The Lakes Community - Powered By XMB Kendall Receives Maintenance Funding
    LCNN - 2-2-2010 at 09:11 AM

NASHVILLE, TENN.— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Kendall Recreation Area on Lake Cumberland has received additional funding to perform critical maintenance upgrades to the water and electric lines in the main campground (campsites 1 through 84). As a result, these campsites will be closed from August 1, 2010 until the work is completed. This closure is to ensure public safety during this major infrastructure rehabilitation process. Reservations may continue to be made at Kendall Annex (campsites 86 through 119).

Also of note, beginning in November 2009, major work began on the replacement of the sewer system which serves the campground and day use areas. This work is ongoing and will hopefully be completed in May 2010.

Natural Resource Manager Brett Call states, “We are excited about this opportunity to improve the overall functionality of Kendall Campground for our visitors.” Call said he regrets these temporary impacts, but looks forward to improved facilities in the future.

“The Corps would like to thank you for your patience and understanding during this time,” said Call. “These much needed maintenance upgrades will ensure safe and reliable services for all future users of Kendall Recreation Area.”
