The beauty of Lake Cumberland and the art of photography are areas of interest certainly enjoyed by all of us.
As a news photographer for many years and a partner in the development of this web site with the late Jerry Gibson, we have always had the desire to
make one of the goals of this website to record and promote the ultimate beauty of Lake Cumberland.
There are many of you, amateur and professional photographers, that each and every day capture images that not only preserve, but also entertains and
informs. With the assistance of all of you, our readers, viewers, forum members and others, we are initiating a Lake Cumberland Photo Library and
contest. We will establish several divisions and an album will be established for each category. A prize will be awarded for the first place winner in
each category. We will ask all of you to submit your photos to be included in this photo library. Submit as many as your wish.
These albums will be available for viewing on this web site and these will be judged on the annual basis with first place winners being announced and
prizes awarded. There will be albums established in the following categories; swimming, boating, scenery, fishing, skiing, gatherings and people.
These will be accepted and judged on an annual basis and we will begin accepting these photos immediately and will continue accepting for 2009 until
the spring of 2010, at which time we will begin our albums for 2010. So send us your photographs to photos@lakecumberland.com and
they will be placed in the appropriate album.
Sorry we have to have a few rules and they are simple: Once submitted to us, the photos become the property of LakeCumberland.com and will likely be
made available to be viewed by all visitors of this site. Photos must be submitted by e-mail and e-mail addresses must be verified by return e-mail.
The decision to publish or not to publish will be at the sole discretion of LakeCumberland.com and the winners will be selected by a committee named
by this management. The name of the photographer and a small description of the photo will also be accepted. The winning photographer in each category
will receive a 16x20 framed copy of their photo on canvas.
So, share your photography with all of us and we will place them in the history of Lake Cumberland.

We need E's buddy Taz back. He sure took some good pictures.
E_HILLMAN - 11-21-2009 at 09:34 PM
Oh great Spoonbill!

There are a lot of very good photographers on this Forum. Now is their chance to show what they can do.
And, let's not overlook the "lurkers" (those who have not registered on the Forum yet). I'll bet that a bunch of them have some really good
photos they'd like to share.

I think there should also be a "wildlife" category for wildlife photo's from around the lake. And I agree with Spoonbill on Taz. He has a fantastic
eye for photography and also has some fanatstic shots from around the lake.

Is there a size limit?

The Boss hasn't shared all the details with us yet but, since he is asking everyone to email their submissions to him, I can't imagine that
there would be a size limit.

Plus, as you hinted at above Captain Bob, you currently don't even have to be a bonafide member of LC.com, you can be a lurker. BUT we would sure
love it if you joined in and explained your pictures.
Remember "The Boss" makes the rules and he can change them too but he really wants folks to submit pictures so I'm sure he wants to keep it simple.
PLEASE SEND IN YOUR BEST KODAK MOMENTS!

No size limit, I will resize them for the purpose of placing them in albums. As to wildlife, certainly we will place them in a category and if need
be, we can add other categories as we go. Just want it to be a fun thing and something we can add to the history of Lake Cumberland. Not certain as to
the time I will have it ready, but talking with a gentleman that worked on the original construction of Wolf Creek Dam, he also has several photos we
will be sharing. If you are aware of any of the original workers, I would like to talk with them also.

Don't know if any are worth a darn or not but you are welcome to use any from my photobucket account <--LINK. that don't have my wife in
them. (She is not a fan of having her pic posted at home let alone anywhere else. lol Dang Women!
There should be a few lake shots in there but none are very old. I know her family had a couple shots around waitsboro and the state park. I'll
have to see if she has copied them to digital yet.
FlukieLuke - 11-27-2009 at 12:03 PM
How about a category dedicated to dam/lake construction?
WaterWings - 12-10-2009 at 11:13 AM
TTT
Just wanted everyone to keep this in mind while the snow is flying and not much going on at the lake (21 degrees outside and snowing in LEX,
brrrrrr).
Easy to submit, very few rules, and you could win some prizes. What have you got to lose.
