Man falls from cliff in Burnside

A Pulaski County man was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center yesterday after he reportedly fell more than 70 feet from an area near Lake Cumberland.

Daniel Loveless, 27, of Nancy, was transported to UK, located in Lexington, after emergency personnel responded to a report at 2:32 p.m. Wednesday that a subject had “fallen from a cliff” near the Cumberland River Norfolk Southern railroad bridge, which runs parallel with the U.S. 27 Cumberland River bridge that goes into downtown Burnside.

“It was reported that Loveless and a friend were taking pictures of Lake Cumberland when he lost his footing and fell approximately 75 feet to the rocks below,” stated a press release from the Burnside Police Department, which responded to the scene, along with several other emergency agencies.

Once emergency crews arrived on the scene, Loveless was transported by boat to Burnside Marina, where he was then treated and transported by Somerset-Pulaski County EMS to Burnside Island State Park, where an Air Methods helicopter was waiting to transport him to Lexington.

Loveless is listed as being in fair condition as of Wednesday evening.

Along with Somerset-Pulaski County EMS and Air Methods, Burnside Police Department was assisted by the Burnside Volunteer Fire Department, the Pulaski County Rescue Squad, the Pulaski County Public Safety Office, the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Tateville Volunteer Fire Department and the Bronston Volunteer Fire Department.

Does anyone know if this is the son of Doug and Carol that own Russell County Feed Mill? They live in Nancy and I'm thinking their son's name is Daniel.
