iPhone turns 5 years old!

Can you believe it? The iPhone is Five years old today.

http://www.techhive.com/article/2000186/iphone-turns-5-today...

Wonder how many of our Members and readers bought an iPhone when it first came out? That was a leap of faith!
(Maybe that's why it was referred to as the "Jesus phone" by some pundits? )

Not still using my 4 year old iPhone as a "phone" but I do use it as a "receiver" with my Sony radio so I can get Pandora (via Wi-Fi). Works great.

don't have one, never did, don't want one. Not sure what all the hype was about. My phone give's me everything I need, I call people, get calls, check/send emails, text, take pictures, and can check the score of a game when out on the lake. i-phone don't offer me anything I need outside that, and my monthly bill is 1/2 what you i-phone users are payin'

Guess all those apps are worth it?

I'm still so technoligically deprived I guess....posting here and doing some internet searches is about all I care to do. Hubby has a kindle fire, and we both have Pay-as-you-go phones, dollar a day if we use it at the lake or emergencies, otherwise I have a home phone with answering machine. I'll talk to you if I feel like it or call you back, or I'll see ya, whatever. I also don't care to miss the occasional favorite show or sports event if I'm at the lake for therapy.:)

I love my Iphone and wouldn't know how to act without it. I use it for everything. I guess i could live without but then i'd have to carry my Ipad around with me..

MC. what is half? If you have interent on your phone you have the same data package that iphone uses. The apps are on a per app purchase and to date in the 5 years that i have had one i have only bought 3 apps

My plan is $54/month including all taxes, gov't fees, and other garbage that get's added on. If I remember correctly, the actual plan is $39.99 before all the fees and stuff.

I, as I believe the majority is, am an Android user. At least until the big suit that going on now is over.

Ditto that. $58/month. And my lil old school flip phone fits nicely in my pocket. When I'm at the lake, for the most part it gets put away unless I need to call Marine Assist.

My cell phone works great for me. I receive and make calls on it.

Don't have text on my plan - if I want to write someone a note, I'll use my computer. I just don't get it - pick up the dammm phone and say it - "Bring home some milk". Couldn't see the text message without putting on my glasses anyway.

Lens on the cell camera has been busted since the first week - the only photo I ever made with it is my screen shot - view of the lake.
If I need to take a photo - I've got a Nikon 300S by my side wherever I go.

The only problem is going to be finding a new battery for the old geezer pretty soon - I'm sure Samsung has discontinued it by now.

It's official-- I now have a smart phone. Android Galaxy Showcase. Using it to monitor security cameras around my house and campsite. Piece of mind = worth the xtra $ . It took drastic events to make me jump thru that hoop. Now ditching windstream phone and internet. You are now on your own Fullmoon, no landline anymore and you would laugh at how impressed my kids are!!:lol

The neat thing about texting Al is you don't have to get involved with those folks who call and never seem to want to end the conversation. You know who they are.

When you do need one check out atbatt.com. I've had good luck with them finding batteries for old devices that the manufacturer doesn't carry any more. Not long ago I found a battery for my 15 year old handheld marine radio there, and if I remember correct the price was reasonable.
