No, but I do think there is a problem with someone who thinks there is a problem with someone not agreeing with what is posted on here...
It's getting late...and as they say on facebook "goodnight friends, I'm off to brush my teeth and hit the hay" (as if any of us care what time you go
to bed and what you do before you crash?!)

Yep, no problem with not agreeing with what is posted at all and that is not what I meant either as we disagree on here all the time. Just seeing the
first 3 posts from a new person being a bit negative and basically grouping us all as WE had a problem sent up a possible flag of someone just wanting
to stir the pot. If you notice I still welcomed ya. I was just being cautious.

I would be very surprised if we didn't see a new liquor world built in Somerset in the very near future...

I may be wrong, but doesn't being in a wet county simply mean that liquor, or beer cannot be sold? I believe you can still drink in a dry county, at
least on your own property, right? Of course, any adjoining county that is wet will profit from the taxes, so a county trying to force it's morals on
the populace by criminalizing non-criminal behavior is basically an excersize in frustration. People will be people, and those that wish to drink,
will.
That said, I am obviously for a wet vote. But, then, I am always for freedom of choice, and can never understand those that aren't.

Counties don't force anything on its populace. The populace decides what is criminalized and what is not. Voting is the way these decisions are made
relating to the sale of alcoholic beverages.

Not to put to fine a point on it, but I was referring to the bill of rights, which exists to support the rights of the minority, not the majority. I
feel that drinking constitutes freedom of expression and freedom of the pursuit of happiness. In other words, if I was the only person in the county
who drank, I should be allowed to. I stand by what I said. If you don't like to drink, then don't. But don't try to force your morals on me.
It's really a moot point, though. These blue laws, passed usually by people intolerant of anyone doing something they figure is a "sin", are going by
the wayside. I, for one, am glad Somerset has moved into the 21st century by voting to go wet. They will not regret it.

You are correct. No law against simple possession or consumption of alcohol in a dry county as long as you are at least 21 years old and not
possessing it for the purpose of resale.
The difference between wet and dry counties is only in being able to legally buy it there. All the other alcohol laws are the same in a dry county as
they are in a wet county. No public intoxication, no drinking in public places except those legally licensed to sell it by the drink, no open
containers in a motor vehicle, no driving undwer the influence etc. Those laws are all the same in a wet or dry county.
And before anyone asks, (because I know someone will) you can legally drink in a public establishment such as bars and restaurants in wet counties
because they are licensed to sell it "by the drink" for on premises consumption. But gas stations and supermarkets etc that sell packaged stuff are
not licensed to sell it by the drink, and therefore you could be charged with drinking in a public place if you were to be caught drinking on their
property......not to mention that the establishment could potentially loose their package sales license if they were to allow you to drink it there.
That's one of the biggest misconceptions I hear about dry counties. That the alcohol laws are somehow different in dry counties than they are in wet
counties. Other than in regard to legal sales, the laws governing possession and consumption are the same in ALL counties in Kentucky. Then of course
there are the locally established laws governing Sunday sales, hours of operation etc that can vary county by county and city by city.

+1000. My sentiments EXACTLY.....and I rarely ever drink beyond a beer or two with dinner a couple times a year. But if I go out to a restaurant
tomorrow and order dinner, I should have the same right to order a beer with it as anyone in Jefferson County, and no one elses morals should dictate
otherwise. Alcohol is a legal product in all 50 states. Prohibition ended in 1933 with ratification of the 21st amendment.
