I would ask for more info on the boat in Arizona, personally.

See what the hours are and the history, as it is known.

It has everything else, big block and all, plus it is a wide one and has a tri axle trailer to boot.

I would get more pictures and then offer $24k, if all sounds good.

I can get it transported for under $3k.

I am thinking that is the boat.

The Bayliner in PA may be OK as well, but the pictures are not doing it any justice. I would lowball offer that boat and see what happens.

BUT

Between those two, you would be foolish not to buy the Rinker In AZ.

Well we all know he's foolish, but that's beside the point..:P

Really E, let go of the low hr requirement. You will find a great boat that will give you yrs of good times.

E, A sea trail is the best way to check things out. You may want to have someone do a survey on the boat. I bought my last boat in January and would not close the deal until I ran it. It was a cold 17 degree January day when I ran her. I would also be concerned about the hull. Check for blisters and wood rot in the transom and stringers. These problems can get very costly. Cracks are not normal wear on a cruiser. My boat is a 1999 and there is no stress cracks or dock rash. Things like that will tell you something about the owner, Accidents can happen to the best captain. But someone who cares about there boat will get it fixed. Pac22 is right. If they let the crack go what else did they let go.

lol, with this info and thought I think the PA boat is OUT of the running. Never thought of wood rot and don't want to have to...

Any comments on the Georgia boat I linked above in my last post?

ps, I'll go ahead and e-mail Arizona as well.

Did notice it DOES NOT list AC/Heat (unless I missed it) but I e-mailed anyway and asked if it had it.

Carry on A/C for about $400 used. I would not let that stop you.

The boat does not have air. I called and talked to the seller a few minutes ago.

My ONLY concern with that boat is it may be too big for you.

I sold a similar boat for Unlimited a couple years ago. Very big and roomy boat. Also tall. It needs that tri axle trailer. If you bought it, you would not need another boat anytime soon for lack of room.

You would probably only trailer it one season before getting a slip.

Carry on's are a pain in the---. I have several friends who had them. Not at a keyboard or I would elaborate more.

I know it is not as handy, but it is an economical option. I would hate to see him pass on a good deal on the right boat simply for that reason. He does not have A/C on his current boat.

I don't have a boat! lol But from all I have read I really don't think I want to mess with a carry on. And getting AC installed is pretty expensive. So there is THAT plus the shipping, plus buying a camper canvas, PLUS the boat started out 4k over where I was looking. I'd have to get it pretty dern cheap to work for me. There are plenty 30-32k boats around that would match what I want but I am trying to stay within the same budget I had on the other boat. Would rather keep shoving more money on my two retirement plans... lol

Agree, even (2) 4.3LX motors would do well in a boat this size. And that way, if one takes a nap, you can still get back to port. It's great to have Marine Assist at the ready but I prefer to use him only as a last resort.

I've looked at a couple like that PAC but I have been warned to steer away from them if I can since I plan to trailer and that would reduce weight and be less to maintain. But a good point.

Reduced weight yes...But dude...I've seen your rig..weight is not an issue.. And the maintenance won't be a problem with the 4.3's. Just throwing out another option for you since we are 8 pages deep and you haven't found one yet..:P:D

No one has commented yet on the other Bayliner I posted about from the American Boat Brokers. What woudl you think about a 21,700 offer on it. It does not have a trailer and that would put me sitting ok to purchase a trailer.

lol are you calling me fat? j/k

I thought maybe they meant it was more stress on the boat or something having that weight back there being bounces around on a trailer. I could make up for the weight difference if my wife would let me pack her clothes etc for her instead of her. Thank god with the next boat she will no longer have to pack the kitchen sink. :D

Are the 4.3s pretty much the same as the ole solid ones Chevy ran? They were pretty tough when cared for.

I have also thought about not telling anyone if I find one so we can keep this thread going. :P:D:P:P Or maybe someone else will pick it up with their seach.

E,

The brokered boat in GA has a 5.0 liter 305 250 HP... underpowered.

Should actually be priced in the $18k range. That would be a high number for it. The bank probably would not give you more than about $16k toward the finance on it.

Stop looking at Bayliners. Those big windows make for a weaker roof support structure and cause flex and leaks. It is one of the main reasons Sea Ray got away from similar windows back in the 90's.

My suggestion, stop looking at Bayliners unless they are cheap. They depreciate on steeper grade scale.

Twin engines in this size boat (under 28' cruiser) is not necessary, especially in hulls 10 years old or newer. It means double the cost of maintenance and at least 1/3rd more gas expense. The newer hulls are lighter and better engineered to perform well with a single engine.

The big block engine is where you need to be with a duo-prop. That low end torque with a drive that cuts way down on the slip is the most efficient power package you could have. Fuel mileage is all about time to plane and throttle position to get you there.

Agree twin engines in this size boat is not necessary, but the piece of mind is worth it for me. Also, it's much easier to drive/dock. Gas is not that much of a difference, especially with 4.3's.

The one is Georgia is a 5.7, actually there are two 5.7s there and I know hwat the bank will give me on those as I have already had them spec those for a loan.

The only other boats I am seeing are the Rinkers and most in my price range are either in pretty rough shape, are salt water, or are too far away.

Anyone else look at at the Chicago SeaRay Baja Posted? Looks pretty nice. Makes me wonder why the price is that low compared to other ones I have seen. (MARINE ASSIST WHAT ABOUT THIS ONE)

The 270 in Kansas also seems nice but does not have a trailer and would be around 30k with trailer.

Now I think I am between the Illinois SeaRay and the Georgia Bayliner... The Bayliner has a wider beam but the SeaRay looks to have a Generator. arghhhh. lol

E, both of the SeaRay boats Baja posted look nice. I know you had a Bayliner and had good service out of it but the cruiser is a different game. Go with a bigger name and you will be happy in the long run. If nothing else when you go to sell.

I think Don is trying to tell you that he just did not come right out and say it. lol
