Nice... Looooong equipment list. Searay always tops in Fit and Finish. Nice Neutral Colors.... These boats never show their age.
Let the bidding begin.
Another Searay to compare price...

Crownline's are very nice boats. I did months of research on them about 7 years ago. There boats seem to have the cupholders and storage areas in all
the right places, i had 2 friends buy them in the same month that was the reason for all the research, one bought a deck boat the other bought a 26 or
28 cruiser like the one that you pictured in your first post. They were a little pricey new but that was the only thing we didn't like about them
before they purchased.. At the end of the day Sea ray or Bayliner your still getting the same engines and drives so the fit, finish and layout as
well as how well the hull is built is all that will be different.
You can never have to much horsepower or to much money, it's just hard to have both...
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...but, a true friend will be

Got that answer.
What do you guys think?
| Quote: | Yes it has the camper canvas. In the 25 years I have lived in Florida it has never got cold enough to freeze an engine block but it did a couple of
years ago. So I had a new in the crate engine installed. I live on a river so the last 17 miles is fresh water of every run, when we went that far out
witch was not that often.
I am moving to Georgia and no place for this big of a boat. I am selling my house on the river with the lift.
I think the gen is a 5kw but what ever it is, it is more than enough for the a/c and all else. Come and test it and make me an offer.

I wouldn't drive all that way down there unless it was the deal of the century. 1/2 of book value and then I would inspect it very closely... but
that's just me. You can find just as good a boat closer to home. IMO

Hmmm might be worth a look then E.
I got alarms going off when he said he only had 1 hour on a new out of the crate engine. WHO put the new engine in and did the work. WHY has he not
driven it more.

Did he say what his reserve price was? And thing about boats in salt water is corrosion, especially manifolds corroding and clogging water jackets
causing them to overheat. Bought a boat one time that was used in brackish water and found out the hard way.

My two cents:
Pricepoint. If your pricepoint is $25K, you are looking at boats listed at least $32K or less. Don't be afraid to tell people what you are thinking
up front. They may huff and puff, but I always leave my number with them (or email they naturally have if emailing), and they usually come around if
they have their boat priced too high. And people price their boats too high initially a lot.
FL Boat: I would call the guy and ask him the questions here. Ask him if he would let you have a marine mechanic check it out also. Find out what
he needs to take it off ebay, etc. Those are nice boats, but he may just be in a world of hurt and Florida is not exactly crawling with people
looking to buy boats these days. Still ... be careful.
Length: Best be thinking about a slip and lift. I looked at a 24' Crownline and thought, "NO way my wife and I are trailering this thing every
weekend." Now, Crownlines are bigger/higher boats than normal 24 footers, but .... still ... anything in the 26' range is going to be interesting
trailering every weekend. I would be curious as to what others had to say on that. I think there is a reason I never see these 26 footers on the
ramp.
Craigslist: HUGE fan. Bought my first boat 3-4 years ago off Craigslist. Just bought my next boat off Craigslist. Craiglists is today's "The
Trader" paper (for those 42-45+) for me. I love it. I will look for you just because I like perusing for boats even when I am not looking for one.
Finally, ... patience. I would rather sit out a season and get the boat I know I want than buy a boat that is just a good deal, but not what I want.
Not sure I can practice that, but I will preach that. Boats come up for sale all the time.

STAY AWAY FROM SALT WATER BOATS! I hate to be harsh Eric but if you buy a salt water boat, you deserve the problems that WILL come along with them.
Not just mechanical either. Upholstery stitching, etching of railings, thinning of gel coat from over buffing the oxidation. Canvas and windows are
already deteriorating prematurely. The salt water gets into places they never get by hosing down. If the boat has on-board AC, it sits in the
coiling, in the sea-pump. Corrodes all the thru hull fittings.
The next time you are around the coast. Take some time to walk some docks and closely look at how boats are kept there. You will quickly appreciate
the conditions of the LC boats. Same flag goes up for the so called fresh water boats in the coastal states. Many of these freshwater boats have
been trailered to the coast from time to time even though they claim to have "most of their" life in fresh water. Keep in mind also that many of the
fresh water streams in the coastal states lead to salt water. See the temptation ?

Very good advice. There are many exceptionally good boats around the LC. / DH area. Because of there they are kept, you will find on average, these
boats are in better shape.

IMO...
Cruisers are a little different consideration than runabouts. Some things I would look for:
Heavily used items such as sinks, showers, cabinet locks, and cabin doors. Some lines will have plastic some will have stainless steel. Stainless
faucets, cabinet latches, door latches.
Look at the cabin head liners. If they are stained or look to have been cleaned. The boat most likely has a leak problem and in time will develop
odors. If you see or sense a presence of a lot of air fresheners, they might be attempting to hide some of these odors.
If you can find a boat with a vacu-flush, these systems use treated fresh water from your water tank. The lake water pump systems use lake water
heavy with bacteria and when these are left unused for long periods, they tend to develop odors.
Avoid any salt water boat. I have several friends who have found these good buys and they have been nothing but trouble. Some will disagree with me
because they might have had that rare occasion with a saltwater boat. This comes from over 48 years of experience with boats.
Be very careful of boats that have been left in the water for extended periods of time.
Outdrives may be corroded or anodes may have not been serviced regularly. If the outdrive appears to have been painted. Enquire extensively as to
why. V-drive or inboards are not an issue due the underwater running gear not susceptible to corrosion.
Factory bottom paint typically does not have the epoxy protective barrier coat. If this epoxy barrier coat is not applied before the bottom paint,
the boat will most likely have blisters.
An anchor windless is very handy but if the boat does not have, check to see how the anchor locker is arranged and how easy it will be to retrieve you
anchor. You will typically use an anchor more with a cruiser.
As far as using an external portable generator. A lot of the docks will not allow these due to safety and noise issues. Again, I have a friend who
thought one of these would be a good idea. Exhaust fumes can be an issue and you still have the task of storing a fuel can and a gen with a fuel tank
somewhere on your boat. If you fire one of these up at a tie up, you probably will not be welcomed back.
Make sure the onboard charger has not been switched out or tampered with. A standard automotive charger is not grounded properly and will possibly
damage your system and may very likely bleed out into your neighbor’s systems in the adjoining marina.
Again, my friend, I will debate anyone here over the small block/big block argument. Maybe the 350 will be marginal in the Bayliners because they
typically are lighter boats. Again, coming from other boaters who have dealt with “longevity”, if you purchase one of the heavier boats, SeaRay,
Crownline, Chaparral, your WILL NOT be happy with a 350 over a 454.
If the Bayliner Ahab is talking about at State is the one on the front row, I have two personal friends that have both owned that boat. I would
rather talk to you privately about that boat.
I can go on and on and would be happy to discuss particulars with you or you can e-mail me some of the boats you are looking at. I have experienced
opinions on certain brand names I would share with you but an open Forum is not the venue in my opinion for these discussions.
Lastly, I would try to figure in your future budget a hydro hoist and slip rental. You will tire quickly of trailering a Cruiser and the additional
fuel will eat to do so. At the least, factor a storage facility close to your home launch ramp.

Notice the anchor chain. This boat is not anchored in very deep water or you would see "rope" instead of chain.
The bridge in the background also looks like many over Coastal Causeways.
Photos can reveal a lot if you look closely enough.

I just noticed this has a Volvo... My mechanic friends tell me this is not a good Volvo area. Parts are twice as much and most of the mechanics
around our area are MerCruiser friendly. Based on these conversations, I would discourage Volvo powertrains.
