GoPro HD cameras??

I have been debating getting a couple GoPro digital video cameras for the towboats. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with them at all.

I was kinda wondering what the picture is like at say 100'-150' away.

I've seen a few videos on youtube with those mouted on boats. That might give you some idea of range

Here is one mouted on the same model boat I just bought

Speaking of which...I think we would all like to see some pictures of the new ride in action.

You, Jabezboy, and E_Hillman all have (or in E's case soon) a new ride. Show us some pictures Man!
What's the name you put on her?

I was thinking it might be a decent way to capture video of some of the salvage and recovery work we do. I always seem to miss out on the best parts of the job because I get busy as things are going on.

My issue is, a lot of times the work is on the beach and we have a lot of rope out, etc, so I was wondering how good stuff showed up at a little distance.

I guess it would show OK.

I may try it some.

Hey Don, I have a GoPro and absolutely love it. Easy to use and video's are HD quality. I generally record on 720p, easier to upload to YouTube.

I actually just bought one and they do put out an awesome picture. The farthest picture I have really seen is waterski distance. But the nice thing is, they are waterproof so you can even suction them to the boat you are salvageing for a different perspective or even build a little raft to attatch it to and float it out there. You won't regret buying one or two.

Don,
I would highly recommend this for you, My wife bought me one for my Birthday to use on our Baja and they are awesome. She bought me the Go Pro HD, I used it the other day at our local lake and man was it awesome video, I pointed it both directions, backwards and forwards and the wide angle is crazy. Their suction cup mount is first class, kind of scared me at first but it is way beyond just a normal suction cup. Any question feel free to ask.
