Here is Kurt's boat:

And, in case you wonder how I did it? Very simple...
His original photo image was 860KB. After resizing it is only 14.3 KB (max allowed is 50KB)

a. Kurt sent me the digital file and I saved it to one of my drives.
b. I came to this thread and selected "Post Reply".
c. Before typing this explanation, I clicked on the SHRINK PICTURES box near the upper RH corner of the Forum page (just above where I am typing this).
c. When I clicked the box, the SHRINK PICTURES screen came up and "Resize Images" is displayed. Under "Resize Images" there are five (5) steps:
__1. Choose Picture or Photo to shrink ____________ [Browse] (This is where you go to the Drive/Folder/filename where your photo is saved. In my case, this was on P:/ForumFotos/Kurtsboat.jpg)
__2. Select... o 350 pixels
__3. -no selection-
__4. Select o Better
__5. Click [Resize]

d. In about 20 seconds (depending upon your connection) it comes back with an image of the resized photo.
e. Download this picture now is displayed. Click on that.
f. A "pop-up will display at the bottom of your screen. Be sure to click on the arrow to the right of "Save" and then choose "Save As"
g. The downloaded file will have a funky "name" (you can rename it) and then SAVE it to your Desktop (or any drive or folder on your computer <-----but remember where you saved it!!!.
h. Just below the text box where you type-in your post, there is a place for you to "attach" the resized photo.
---that's all there is to it. Took less than a minute.

Kurtincincy,
I have been expecting some more photos of your boat/gear from you (now that you know how to post pics).

As I mentioned in the email, that is a very nice looking boat --but I still don't think I would want to make that trip.;)

Kurt, you will have no problems if you head out Friday. Saturday afternoon would be a challenge to say the least. No way on any holiday weekends OK?

If you do this during the week, you would have the lake to yourself and a much more enjoyable time.

Another suggestion: definitely have a cell phone and MarineAssist's number handy. Especially during the week when "Good Samaritans" and KDFWR maybe scarce.

I attempted this once myself but I didn't use a motor. I was using "natural gas" for propulsion. Worked fine until I ran out of "gas". When I called MarineAssist all he would say is "I'm gonna need a bigger tow boat." ;)

Since we are posting Dinghy photos, here's one in a rainstorm..
(And that isn't Bogart and Hepburn in the African Queen)

Would you believe we made it all the way across the lake like that?

Im all for your having a great time, safe and sound and back again, but please remember there are boats on the lake 40-50 foot and put out rollers 4-5 feet high that travel until they hit dirt. Just make sure you have a life jacket ON, some extra supplies, food, water, flares, flashlight, rain gear/clothes, cell and maybe a couple girl friends to kill time with because you could easily get swamped and stuck somewhere. Not to mention bad weather rolls over from the west and catches the biggest and best of us sometimes. Ive been caught on a Seadoo in 100% tornadic (is that a word) weather for over 2 hours stuck in the back of a cove hanging onto a tree for dear life before and just prior it was sunny and 92 degrees out.

Like a good Boy Scout, be prepared and leave a flight plan and everything should be fine.

Pay It Forward: Help others on the lake, tow safely or call professionals for help. You might need it someday too.

I wish you the very best in your inflatable boat travel adventure.
You are getting much good advice.....
Please post your water adventure plan with : departure date, time, route.
Some of the BIG BOAT OWNERS might want to monitor your travel progress along your route.
(Suggest you get a Burnside sponsor and fly a bright pennant for a worthy charity.)
This could lead to another type of lake event. An annual Burnside Inflatable Raft Poker Run...
It will be fun to hear and see pictures of your trip.;)

Took the dinghy out yesterday for its maiden voyage on the OH river. I put new seals and an impeller in the 6hp Mariner 2 weeks ago. Turns out it probably also needs carb rebuild kit and maybe fresh spark plugs. Didnt get the gps speed readings yet due to this. However the oars run excellent.

we have a yearly dinghy poker run here in Cincy put on by a boating club at Manhattan Harbour. However for that one the entire "run" is inside the marina. Go from dock to dock. More of a drinking event but still fun.

If I had the time I would love to ride from Grider to Burnside, and the inflatable you have shown would be just fine.

Don't worry, be happy............;)

If I gather a few more participants I would be willing to pay some gas money to get someone in a larger boat to go along as a safety escort. I also have an 18ft bowrider, maybe i could get someone to drive that along.
Maybe this will take place on Friday 6/8 or Friday 6/15 if we don't get spring rains that cause debris to enter the lake...

While your getting repairs made, here is another option. That there's me on the right in the red cap. If you pack right, there is room for smokes and a 6-pak too. Personally, I might take a big'ol rebel flag with me, just for safety's sake. Know wadd I mean Vern?
