AC, Heat
*Definitely a spouse pleaser..
Sink, Stove, Fridge,
*Depends on who is expected to use the sink and stove.
Toilet with holding tank
*Try to get a vac-u-flush. It uses treated fresh water. The lake water systems tend to smell like port-o-lets when aged.
Shower
*Another spouse pleaser
Aft Cabin
*Great for the kids
Camper Canvas
*A must if you want the spouse to be happy the next morning not having to walk out onto all that "Natures Nectar"
Bravo 3
*Very smart move. The Bravo 2 is a large power prop but doesn't perform near as well as the 3
Engine no smaller than 5.7 (would love a 7.4 as they seem to be durable)
*Never let anyone talk you into a small block for a heavy cruiser. There are several out there built as a cost maneuver. A lot of hours on these over taxed engines could prove costly.
****EFI over Carb if it all possible.
Right now focusing on boats under 300 hours and prefer under 200
*With proper maintenance. I have just under 700 hours on my 454's and they still start up and perform like new.
Do not get a small block in a Cruiser. You will not like the lack of torque when struggling to get on plane. I have many friends who bought the 350 Mags and wish they had bought the big blocks. Some will argue with me here but I speak from experience and boats with longevity.

The one Spouse pleaser you left out is a generator. When out on the lake, the AC, Stove, Microwave,Blenders are useless without a gen. If you plan on coving out, a gen is a real nice back up when the kids, and others forget to turn off the lights or are crying to run fans at night.

I am biased but look very closely at the Sea Rays and their amenities. Cumberland is a big Sea Ray lake and I would bet there are several "like new" out there.

Nearly, that pretty much sums up the boat I'd "like" to have. ;)

Get crackin 'E'. 'Goin Tarpless' I can understand, but not 'Goin Boatless'!

I'm mixed on that...

I read some reviews of boats that size with the small blocks...

http://www.boattest.com/boats/boat_video.aspx?ID=580
http://www.boattest.com/rateboat/detaileval.aspx?ID=1076

Vid is a little older model but you get the idea. @ 6:30 they run it some

I like these but they did not come out till mid 2000s and I have only seen one that was in my price range and it sold quickly. It is shown running around 2:30 in the vid

For some reason a lot of the Sea Ray vids I have found only have the 5.0 so I did not even watch them.

Oh and if things go good Saturday I was already planning on changing my avatar to Goin Boatless. lol

Maybe you and Wha-Racin Boatless Rooster can rub your nickels together and buy a couple of inner tubes and a few tacos. You might get out into the main lake with them, gas powered............ :P:P

Strongly agree.

The vids showing the small blocks are not telling you they run at a higher RPM at cruise. I had friends that bought 340's with the 6.2. Not enough torque and they ran at a higher RPM than my 454's or the revised 8.2's. I had another friend that had a 34 Formula with the 6.2 Mags. Formula thought it needed drive showers due to the higher stress on the higher RPM's under heavy loads. He regreated not getting the 8.2's and finally sold the boat.

I had twin 350 Mags in my 300 Sundancer and that boat could not have had a better power combo. Bigger is not always better;) Sometimes you just need two.

E - I was looking in similar size area (remember, my Sea Ray 220 OV was very similar to your Bayliner, but I have FOUR kids), but went tick smaller than the bigger 260/270 Sea Ray Sundancers (which is what I wanted) or the 26' Crownlines. I went with Four Winns Sundowner 245.

Be sure to check Craigslist in Columbus and Indianapolis. I found a bunch of nice ones while I was looking, but mostly in the $28K-$32K range which was just a bit more than I wanted to pay.

Oh, and GREAT summary NearlySatisfied. (Where were you when I was looking?). I agree with the no-go on the small block for larger boat btw and for what it is worth.
