New to the Forum
Hello all! I started a post yesterday regarding the current water level, but wanted to use this thread to introduce myself to the forum and ask a
couple more questions.
I'm 28 years old. I live and work in Lexington with my wife and 3 year old daughter. I'm a structural engineer. I am from Lexington and grew up on
KY lakes and rivers. Summers always consisted of as much time on the water as possible. Now that I have a family of my own nothing has changed. My
wife and daughter love the water so every chance we get we hitch up the boat and head to the water.
I've spent most of my time on Laurel, but a good amount of time on Cumberland and Dale Hollow as well. My family and I love the clear water,
cliffline and relative quietness of Laurel. We typically keep to ourselves swimming in coves, scampering around the shoreline and wakeboarding. Yes,
we do wakeboard so hopefully this doesn't turn anyone off. I always try to be conscious of my wakes and respect other boaters/fishermen. I do fish
occasiounally, but not often mainly because it isn't the wife/daughter's favorite activity. I look forward to meeting people on this forum and hope
to see you all on the lake!
This is getting long, but I have a couple questions before I go. We've always trailered our boat from Lexington, but are considering stroring the
boat at the Grove dry storage this summer. Those who are familiar with this do you recommend it? Are they good about getting your boat in the water
on time? Do they treat your boat well? Thanks!
One more thing... if any of you would like wakeboard lessons for you or your kids let me know. I am an advanced wakeboarder and have taught many
people to ride and do basic tricks.
If you see us on the water flag us down and say hello!

Welcome again mb83! Nice post! You sound like a lot of folks that come on here. Love the water and boats.
Been doing it myself since well ...lets don't' go there.
You probably know member "Awakening". He is a big wake boader at Laurel. He is on and off of here like a lot of folks. He admits to liking to "lurk"
sometimes.
OK, I have to admit its been a while since I was at Laurel, but the last time I was there with a friend the dry storage thing at Grove worked like a
charm. Called ahead and told them what time we would be there and the boat was waiting at the dock when we got there. Now the service may have changed
over the years but I thought it was an absolutely fantastic idea and I wish more would do that at Cumberland.
Oh, and yeah that picture posting thing is a pain in the butt. Hopefully it will get better in the future. For now you just have to find a picture
program that lets you re-size it to something less that 400 bits per side or something. 400 x 320 or something like that.
Again, welcome and don't be a stranger. We got a lot of Laurel and wake boarding folks on here.
WHATEVER floats your boat Dude!

Welcom mb83
Don't worry about your wake, you seem like you are aware of it and most here respect that. Ok, on the Grove dry dock, here is my take.
-If you really really care about your boat and are slightly anal about it I would not do it. I have a Mastercraft X-45 with a full vinyl wrap and
little bumps on the dock can damage it so I don't do it. My boat is too tall and heavy for it anyway though. Also, I know a lot of the dock hands
personally and they are great folks, but no one will care for your boat like you do.
-Wakeboard boats sometimes don't fit in the storage building becuase of weight or tower height. If your tower can be taken down then you have a
chance. I considered putting a 23' wakeboard boat up there in 06 and after looking at it with them we figured out it would not fit in. It didn't
matter anyway becuase they also said it was too heavy. I rarely see a wakeboard boat roll out of the storage unit and when I do, they are generally
very small boats with some age on them.
I found a happy place for my boat to chill at Bee Creek up the hill from Grove. The owners are really nice folks and take care of their customers.
Most of the regular wakeboard boats at Laurel that launch out of Grove are at his location.
Hope that helps. Also, check your U2U

Welcome to the forum mb83. Sorry to hear that you boat out of Grove instead of Holly Bay.... JK. Awakening and Fryman are at Grove and we tolerate
them..
Most important question is... do you play cornhole?
I am obviously Mouth89. I am reluctant to say that I am affiliated on this forum with Sixpacksummer and Connellyhp. WE (<--- just for you sixpack)
have a houseboat at Holly Bay. Have been boating on Laurel for years and years. I just started to learn how to wakeboard this past summer, but we do
not have a tower so it's a little limited unless we bum off of Awakening or BlueAddiction.
Glad to have another Laurel Laker on the forum.. we are few.
BTW Awakening.. we still want to see that flip

Welcome to the forum, mb83. Good to see another boater from Laurel Lake. If you cannot find an inside storage spot around Grove there are 4-5 around
Holly Bay, not sure if they have any vacancies.
Awakening, I don't think Mouth was trying to recruit for us. She was recruiting for your team in hopes of making you guys a little more competitive
next year.
Never too early to start rebuilding the team especially when a total makeover is needed.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the useful info everone. Looking forward to meeting some of ya'll at the lake.
I do play cornhole, but wouldn't consider myself an avid player. I'd be psyched to join in the festivities though!

Welcome to the forum mb83. Would those lessons happen to be free, or is there a charge for that? Don't worry about your cornhole skills. It doesn't
get much worse than Groves captain and co-captain -- Awakening and Fryman.

Lessons are negotiable...a cold beer and some gas money would probably be adequate.
Watching that Mastercraft commercial is torture this time of year.

Mb83 welcome, it's good to have another skier/wakeboarder on here. And if anyone give you a hard time just ignore them. More than likely there just
