Paving at Wolf Creek

Heard over the VHF radio last night no parking in the lower lot for a few days while crews were paving.

Things are looking up in the neighbour hood! :)

Nice. It would be great if they would focus on the road leading down the hill to marina soon as well. It's getting a little rough! On a related note, I talked to the folks at the marina this weekend, and it looks like they are putting a large covered pavilion out near the gas pumps right now too. I've heard the portion covering the roof has a tiki type of look to it. In any case, I'm looking forward to what things are in store down at WCM.

No Joke! I hold my breath every time I come around that turn going up the hill that someone is not barreling down the hill towards me out of control! If you're pulling a trailer, it is literally just wide enough to get around the bend without your trailer ending up in the drainage culvert.

Not that ever does any good but there is a "sign" at bottom lot also which several vehicles drove around and parked there anyway...got graveled around about 6'' deep :P. We hauled the last 5 loads there today. Try taking 80,000 lbs with wet dense grade in that road and down the hill...yes you heard our jake brakes. 53 miles from loading point to Wolf Creek Marina with the last 20 being a white knuckle, 10 cigarette ride. $259.36 haul bill per truck + the cost of rock.

BTW paving wont begin till at least next week.

Not with a trailer. Both lots should be open.

Hey Denmark can you accidentially dump about a 3' strip down along the side of the road all the way down the hill? LOL

Sorry E. Neither the hill, road, or pot holes got any. The lots are privately owned while road and hill are county roads. When I ask if/when I was met with rolling eyes and shrugged shoulders. BE CAREFUL if you have low setting vehicles...you WILL drag!!!

After a leveling course installed yesterday(4-16-12) looks like the road(Island Ramp Road) which goes down the hill to WCM is being paved today.

After adding about 2 feet of shoulders on each side of the road last fall, it looks like there will be ample room for trucks with boats in tow to meet one another while going to and fro.:D

I can attest to the HUGE improvement that is the new Island Ramp Road. WOW! Very nice all the way from the top to the bottom, especially the paved turnaround at the top of the ramp. Everyone will be very happy with this upgrade.

The paving was done and it is great. They also widened it a little, especially around the bend that was dangerous. Thanks to the county and to management at WCM for getting it done.

Saw it this past weekend, and yes ... very nice. Very accomodating. Nice touch with the turnaround at the bottom near the ramp. Nicely done.

Throw in Fort Wahoo at the top of the hill, and hard to find better lodging, boating option.
(I know - the drive from Jabez to WCM sucks, especially pulling a boat. I get it.)

I was talking to someone at the dock a few weeks past and they were saying that maybe the state of Kentucky might be improving and pretty much taking over Cave Springs Road.

Makes sence to me that if Wolf Creek Marina is ever going to expand it will take a nice road to attract a customer base.

if the state took over CS Road that'd be a huge help for the marina. it would be a pretty large undertaking but if people don't feel comfortable pulling their boats in and out (i've done it for years so am used to it) then it's going to be a huge turn-off.

any idea on the occupancy percentage of the marina? it was stated to be 40% when the new ownership took over, i'd like to see what that's like at the end of this summer, next summer, etc...see how fast it climbs now that all the "frilly" stuff is being done.

I was there yesterday, servicing a Purasan, drove in...Next trip for me will be by boat.....Lots of construction going on, and things really looking good...question for the locals there, do the kids going to school spend more time on the bus or in the class room??
