Water level pics

Does anyone have any pictures of the water level @ the Marinas on the Holler? The people that live far away would love to see just how high the water gets in the Marinas they go to most often. Parking lot, boat ramps and so forth. Hey KyAl maybe with your connections to the news publications you could come up with some help from the photographer community. I would love to see how high the water is @ the Dam, both Wolf Creek and Dale Hollow. Just a thought, is any one else interested?:)

I spoke with a houseboater from Cedar Hill Resort Friday afternoon. He said the lake is very high because of LC's dam situation. The new houseboat slip area walkway is alittle under water as usual. Also they are waiting for the lake to rise 2ft then they will open one flood gate. This is all hearsay. Going down Monday to check out houseboat, heard that a board with a cleat was pulled up.

It is pretty high, check out Sunset Marina on Facebook for current pics. All of the docks can be accessed there and Star Point last I heard

Also the dam is closed up due to the Cumberland River being high in the Nashville area..........and more rain on the way

Sulphur Creek Resort Marina is inaccessible via car/truck. I heard they were going to ferry moorage customers to the Marina via pontoon but have not confirmed that at this time. If anyone has a houseboat rented, you should call and see what arrangements are being made as parking lots are flooded as well.

Maybe you can view these from Hendricks Creek Resort on Facebook.

Several of us long time boaters on Dale Hollow took a pontoon ride this afternoon from Hendricks Cr. I have been boating on Dale since the mid 70's and i have never seen the lake in this condition. Last year was high, but just for a few days, this year is unbelievably high and hasn't crested yet according to the Corp. You just have to see it to believe it.

Dale is about two feet short of the all time record set in 1975.

I've made some photos from the parking lots at Wisdom - they still have plenty of parking and have created access to the dock and store - and from Wolf River - they also have access to the store, but parking is almost non-existent.

I will try to post the photos tomorrow.

Also made a photo of Wolf Creek Dam this afternoon, water is about a foot or so below the flood gates. Grider Hill looks like it did six or seven years ago. Big smile on Rick's face.
:D

We were down at Sunset on Saturday. I've gotten a few pics too and I can email you too.

We were able to walk to U dock, but the steps that lead to the island was completely under water as was most of the parking lots. Water was right at couple of the cabins and was freaky to see a guy launch his fishing boat from the driveway at the bathhouses near the large cabins.

There was some debris near O and P docks, but really wasn't bad. The folks at Sunset have done a fabulous job keeping access to the docks open.

We were at 659.31 at 4 p.m. today. As you know, the pool of record is 660.98 (set in March 1975). If the forecast is good we may avoid setting a new record.

DWB is correct on the record - I'm wondering if the .02 might be a miscalculation, or more likely just a rounding up, of the height said to be the top of the flood gates - listed at 661.0. The exact record of 660.98 was set on March 15 (1975).

The next highest for Dale occurred in May, 1984. Telling my age here I guess, but I remember both - just that the May, 1984 levels are more vivid. I guess as a 17 year old in 1976, I more important things on my mind.
:P

Anyway - expect the lake to continue to rise for a day or maybe two, but I don't think the COE will let it go over the top.

We have generators online at the dam! Flowing 1465 cfps according to the Corps! A small amount, but better than the 25 cfps it has been sitting at.

Rumor has it we may get some real movement come Saturday:)

Lookin much better!
I hope the logs and debris is gone too. Not that it was horrible for the most part, but we did move some good size logs out of our slip. We hope to be down this weekend even if it is raining

Only saw one limb Sat. on our way from Sulphur to Wisdom. Didn't see anything yesterday when we went from Sulphur to Willow Grove and back. But it sure was chilly:mad:
