Barnhart bans skycam at UK games.
I got to say this was a bad idea. Good try, but a HUGE mistake. It drove me nuts. Couldn't tell who had the ball which way they were going, whether
they were shooting, passing, or just called time out? It was a mess.
UK won the game (finally) so that made up it for it some.

Television viewers of Tuesday's Mississippi State-Kentucky men's basketball game might have experienced some dizziness, and it wasn't from the pace of
the game.
For Kentucky fans who did not enjoy the overhead camera ESPN used for its telecast of Tuesday's UK-Mississippi State game, here's the good news: You
probably won't have to watch another game from the vantage point high above center court.
UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart announced on Twitter Wednesday what amounted to a ban on the use of the overhead angle. "We have expressed the
concerns with the new overhead camera use at future games & will no longer approve the camera location in the future," Barnhart said.
UK spokesman DeWayne Peevy noted that the school cannot control how a network televises a game, but the school can control where cameras are
positioned.
Even without UK granting approval, ESPN did not sound eager to return to the overhead view.
ESPN spokesman Michael Humes said Wednesday that the unusual camera placement was part of a week of "innovative" television by the network. "Wasn't
something we're going to implement season-long," he wrote in an e-mail message.
ESPN sought to give fans different perspectives through innovative production techniques and other enhancements this week. "We consistently strive to
balance our use of these elements with fan feedback," Humes wrote.
For instance, Thursday's DePaul-Providence game will feature an all-female announcing team with Beth Mowins doing play-by-play and Doris Burke
providing analysis.
Judging by e-mails received from UK fans, the overhead camera angle was an innovation that blew up in the face of ESPN's Thomas Edisons

It still aggravates me that they go out of their way to keep the "live" radio play-by-play and the "live" TV telecast out-of-sync.
I used to enjoy turning on the TV, turn the TV volume all the way down; and then tune-in the games on the UK radio network.
Ahhh, those were the good times..
Yeah, the TV in the sky was very distracting. They should have experimented with a Puke or Tornheel game.

I thought it was interesting but only if they would have only done a couple shots during the game.

Captain Bob you just brought back some great childhood memories for me. When we
were kids, mom and dad had an intercom system installed when their house was built. UK games with our beloved Cawood Ledford were HUSH TIME and every
speaker in the house was turned way up as the tv volume was turned down. Ahhh yes... the good ole days.

Another interesting thing I have noticed and wondered about the reason. I can have one TV on High Def and another not on high def and the broadcasts
are not in sync.

Quickie, there have been a lot of comments regarding that very thing on the Internet. I have two LED TV's (one 6 mos old and the other 1 month old)
of the same brand located not 20 feet apart and I notice it between them as well.
The reason is more complicated but it seems to be a situation where different TV's process their signals at different rates or they receive them
through dissimilar devices..

I for one LIKED the overhead shots but just intermittently. Can see plays develop. Would NOT want to watch most of the game like that though.

those shots would be great for "replays" only. UK has scouting video cameras up there. that is were espn got the idea is from schools putting their
own cams up there for coaching purposes.

The cam was OK to review a play but not to watch a full game.
