Store at the top of the hill
Hello to all my neighbors and forum members in the Jabez/Faubush area. Though I'm not at the lake, I'm sure thinking about it. I'm taking a break from
some much-needed spring cleaning in the garage, and was wondering, does anyone know if the store formally known as Jetts/Rays/Double D's, might be
opening this year? It was really convenient for the neighborhood, and the last year they were open, they had some pretty good fish frys on Friday
nights. It seems like the place had it's high point back when Joan Sparks and her family had it. No one has been able to make a good go of it since.
Oh well, back to the garage, come on Spring!

You've probably been down by now, but just in case.
No, it's not open. And, there is a sign saying it is a church now.

Thanks for the info, thunderstorm. Are you from the neighborhood?
I guess if we can't get any food for our bellies, we will have to settle on some food for the soul!

I miss it too. BUT, it's only 2.2 miles from there to Teddy's - not that much further to travel to get some B&Gs,eggs, bacon, sausage breakfast.
I have some great memories of Lawson Brown (who owned/operated it with (and was related to) the Sparks in th 70s.
I don't think it is coming back this time.

You're welcome. We are about 5 miles past the store toward Cherokee Village.

I'm going to have to try their breakfast sometime, Jabez
boy. That's a little too far for me to ride the quad, but we'll get over that.
I remember Mr Brown, he helped me out more than once,it seemed like I was always getting stuck, or needed a tool that I hadn't brought down from home.
Ronnie Sparks was another good guy, I really miss him.
Maybe we'll run into each other at Teds,Jabez Boy. I'm a middle-aged, overweight, bald guy. Ya can't miss me!

Teddy and Teresa are the nicest people you will ever meet! Their daughter, Stephanie works there as well as their son Josh and a great lady named
Melissa. I have yet to have a bad meal there and we eat there alot! The prices are really reasonable which for a weekend trip in the non-boating
season makes it not even worth packing food! They are just the best! Introduce yourself to them! They are the best!

It's a shame about the old Double D's/Annie Lou's...but I agree - don't think it'll be coming back this time. This is the start of the 2nd season
without it...too bad.
Life is better at the lake.
