Another One Bites the Dust
Another steel hull houseboat went down a couple of weeks ago. It was for sale for a while, guess the owner got tired of waiting for it to sell
Rumor has it MarineAssist raised it.
Slowly but surely the steel hull houseboat is vanishing from the landscape at Laurel

It was a 1970 Stardust 40' steel hulled houseboat. It sank in the slip and was totally submerged, being held by one rope and the dock anchor cable. We
raised it the Thursday before the 4th of July. We were in and out in about 5 hours time, so you may have missed it.
If I ever get a free minute or two I will upload some pictures. I didn't take many because we worked through it quickly.
Maybe someone on the dock got some pics. There was a pretty good sized audience there!

I got down later that day and it was gone. It was in the slip next to may boat. If you get a chance post what pictures you have.

One of my neighbors at the marina was there when it happened and posted some pictures on Facebook. I'll send her a message tonight to see if she

Funny or sad thing, depending on how you look at it. This boat was listed on Craigs List as having a new hull within three years. Yet it had not been
out of the water in ten years. Amazing where technology has gone, you can put a new hull on a boat without removing it from the lake.

Marmar, none of us are saying there is anything wrong with a good old steel hull boat.
You would just have to know the weasel that owned this and how he was trying to pawn it off on an unsuspecting buyer.
It's not the boat you have but the fun you have using it.

He called me today. He is settled with the insurance company and wanting to sell the boat as is. Looking for offers.
From what we could tell, the boat sank from a sink drain line that had a hose fail. The exit fitting was right at the waterline and slowly took on
water. There are now some issues at the back of the hull where it took out the underwater brace from the dock, but it looked repairable.

I love that the grill is still on there like nothing happened, that and the lights around the front.
