Holiday and Christmas Shows/Events
Just wondering if anyone else has plans to see a show or attend an event during the holiday season?
I'm planning to attend the Kentucky Opry Christmas Show at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg. It's an awesome show with local talent. I
highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special treat during the Christmas season.
I've also been to the Christmas Show at Renfro Valley and it is also very good.
Thought it would be great to share ideas and comments on performances/events to enhance the season.

Wow! Went to the Kentucky Opry Christmas Show last night and had a most enjoyable time! When I called to order tickets I asked if two of my
favorites would be in the show...Ron Vanover (originally from McCreary County near Cumberland Falls now General Manager at Natural Bridge State Resort
Park) and Kory Caudill. I was told Ron would be singing but that Kory was on tour playing keyboard for the new country singer, Justin Moore. On the
way there I commented I wished Ron would sing "O Holy Night" and he did! THEN...the Executive Director of The Mountain Arts Center and emcee for
the Kentucky Opry (and also Kory's father) announced toward the end of the show they had a surprise...Kory had come home for Thanksgiving and was
there and going to play "We Shall Behold Him"!! It is absolutely breath taking to watch this young man play that grand piano!! (Found out later
that Justin's grandfather had passed away and had to cancel their performance in Florida allowing Kory to come home).
The Jr. Pro's were great as usual...love watching those kids perform and the talent is beyond words.
Ron has FINALLY made a CD and appropriately titled it "Better Late Than Never"...we've been on to him for YEARS to record!! Kory also has a CD
playing Christmas songs...I'm up this morning switching back and forth between the two! LOL
If you get a chance, go see this show...it was a 3 hour drive for us over to Prestonsburg and we had to come back after the show for a total of 6
hours on the road but well worth it!
*Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Ron Vanover (other than knowing him for many years through tourism) or Kory Caudill (other than watching him
grow up) or the Mountain Arts Center...just have several very talented friends performing in the Kentucky Opry.*

I enjoy looking at everyone's Christmas displays and decorations. Some are unique (ie, some would say tacky, tasteless, too many, etc...) but if the
household enjoys putting the display up I'm going to take the time to enjoy it, too. Christmas in the Park at Freeman Lake Park in Elizabethtown
isn't bad for a smaller city. I'll do Christmas in the Park on a weeknight because on the weekends traffic is backed up. On a side note, if you do
a drive through lighted Christmas display, please figure out how to turn off your headlights if you have automatic ones.
