KY 1247 now open (No more lights on US 27 to and from south side of Lake Cumberland)
Motorists traveling from the southern portion of the Lake Cumberland area to Interstate 75 will now have a quicker route.
Two-way traffic is now flowing on two northbound lanes of scenic new Ky. 1247 between northern Burnside and the 914 bypass near Ferguson. Flashing
message boards in all directions announce the opening. http://www.wkym.com/

Does this connect directly into 914 or do you still travel on 80 for a way?

So does that mean off of 914 you can take 1247 and that takes you pretty much right into 90 around burnside. My new tomtom gave that route.

Is a very quick drive....
If you travel from CBR , BCR or Dale Hollow, you will love this. You shoot over 27 at Burnside, and you are at the 914 light (near Ferguson) in like
4 or 5 minutes. As I mentioned, it is two lane now in the north bound lanes, but a real quick drive to 914, and on to 80...... If you are pulling a
boat or trailer....you will like it even better!!!!

Woo Hoo! I have been fishing Lake Cumberland for fifty years and this is the neatest thing yet. It makes getting to my houseboat easier and faster.
The only part of the trip that is in the least less than stupendous is the bridge across the lake. You know the one, the brown bridge made out of
reclaimed ship keels and frog innards-the Bronston Monster.

Took this new route Saturday while headed to Lexington. Nice. Will be even better when the south lanes are completed, but even with just two lanes,
it's a big improvement over the same route before the rebuild.
Hate that eight mile drive home!

If rod still lives where he has since his move, I wouldn't think there's a shorter route. The construction everyone is talking about is on the south
side of Somerset. That is the 90/Bronston/Burnside clover leaf finally tying into the bypass on 914 over by Worldwide Equipment.
The northern end of the 914 construction is moving along at a snail's pace. Sure 27's four lane is completed but where the new bypass ties into 80
(Cumberland Parkway) and 27 has yet to be completed.
It's all going to be very nice when completed.

I've been watching construction all year, patiently waiting for it to open. It cuts 5-10 minutes off my drive, maybe more if traffic is jacked up...

I think I will miss the old route 1247 with that roller coaster type drop at the bridge, you know, the one with all the scrape marks in the pavement
from people hitting their oil pans.

Heared on 27 news the other day that, the I-66 northern bypass may be in limbo, did not know when the eastern part from 27 to east 80 will be built.
Anyone else hear any more?

We travel from Cincy (Go Bengals!) to Bronston every month. Will this save us any time? If so, am I correct that it shaves off about 5-10 minutes?
(Cuz we'll take it!) We've been wondering where that construction was going to lead to. I still have to think every time we get cross "Big
Rusty" to come back to Cincy which way to go since they reconfigured that whole area!
Looking forward to the extra time to hit the snooze when we have to come back!

"Will this save us any time?" Yes it will... plus it will save you a lot of stress if you don't like playing bumper cars with folks on 27.
" If so, am I correct that it shaves off about 5-10 minutes?" That would be about right depending upon traffic and the red lights on 27.
Its a straight shot, no red lights, right into "Big Rusty" and Bronston. Only one side open so far but man it sure is nice. You'll love it.
