Checked the air pressure in your Spare Tire lately?

My son came to the house to blow the dust out a friend's computer with my air compressor.
I asked him, "when was the last time you checked the air pressure in your spare tire."
His reply was - Never.

The pressure was down to 10 lbs. and should have been 35 lbs.

Yep. Every time that I clean out the trunk --which is whenever it's dirty.
I never did like dirty, messy trunks and can't stand it when the inside of the car is messy. Just old-fashioned like that.

Sorry I never check mine, honestly, I'm not even sure where its at.:)
BUT, I do like to carry one of those battery charge packs that also includes a small air compressor.

Lets turn this around though and ask... when was the last time you had a flat?
Just seems rare these days to me. Used to get a couple in my younger days when I tried to get 100,000 miles on a set of tires. ;)
I have had more battery problems than I have ever had flat tires.

Actually just this past summer... at Lily Creek Ramp.... on the rear of my Avalanche. As I came down the ramp and turned into the "new lower lake level" parking lot my left rear blew. Evidently I hit one of the rough rocks that lines the edges of the ramp and the boat pushing down the ramp (sideways against the rear of the truck) caused the sidewall to be split open. Yep, the spare was low, but I also carry a 12v compressor.

Yeah, the jack, the handle, the lug wrench, get back in the truck to get the keys to unlock the anti-theft thing for the spare, spend 10 minutes trying to figure out what end of what piece of the jack handle fits the tire lowering thing... give up and get the owners manual out to find out, 2000 revolutions of jack handle to lower the spare, 6 plastic nuts to take off the wheel center, 6 steel nuts to take off the wheel, and finally get the spare on the truck.

The wife and kids thought our day trip to lake was over, but after getting the spare on and aired up, we still dumped the boat and spent the day on the water. Had a nice day too!
