How many of you belong to AARP

I heard that AARP is supporting the health care reform bill. I found out that the leaders of AARP who threw their support to the bill aren't even fifty(the minimum age for membership, I think). I think I got snookered by these people. How many of you are AARP members. If the moderator thinks this is too political, I understand, otherwise I would like to know everyone's feelings.

I used to be a member. I got out when they started becoming more openly partisan. Seems to me they should be representing seniors, not one political party or the other.

I got out earlier this summer. Cancelled the membership, made phone calls and sent letters expressing my feelings. I don't feel like they are representing me at all.

I am NOT a member, never was. I never trusted them from the day I started receiving the crap in the mail.
My philosophy to government, aarp and the likes. Leave me the h*## alone, I will take care of myself thank you. I don't even belong to the NRA. I did once but found out they are about the money too. They are there until YOU need help!

I also belonged to the NRA a while back. I own guns, but never thought anyone should have the military weapons that can fire many rounds. I no longer belong. Also was an AARP member for many years. Did not renew this year because of their political stance. Plus I feel their medicare supplemental insurance is way overpriced.

Never joined, as they are too political for me and I am on the different side of the aisle.

I joined AARP to insure our double wide at the lake. I was having all kinds of trouble getting a company to carry us, but now that I have been insured for several years, they will see my membership lapse as well.

Tore up my ARP card this morning.
Participated in Pat Tiberi Town Hall Conference Call last nite... 2 hrs that I was on the phone... 100% healthcare questions from the attendees.

I would like to tell you about one caller... who asked congressman Tiberi how many "pages" in ammendments the Republicans wanted to add to the bill ? This guy continued for about 5 minutes harpin on the number of "pages" proposed ammendments would add to the bill... THIS is why we have what we have in Washington. A huge portion of Americans don't have a clue what is going on. I think its by design.
The o'le shell game if you will.

Have I just broken the rules again... crap :o

NO AARP, NO NRA, NO to anything or organization that solicits me more than 3 times a year. They are putting more into marketing efforts than into helping me.

Uhhh...Yeahbuddy, thought I read the AARP and the AMA were on the same wave length on the health care thingy on the news this morning. IT was very early and my eyes could have still been crossed but I could have sworn that I saw both were in support of something and it wasn't SSD's (Senior Sexual Diseases).

(Thanks to everyone for NOT make this a political discussion so far. We appreciate you biting your tongues. If you bite too hard though you may want to seek medical treatment... but you probably couldn't pay for it, so be careful. ;) )

Yeah Waterwings when they mail me several times a year when I am already giving them a good lump at somepoint in the year already it really burns me. Especially the FOP and the NRA as I want that money used for what I sent it, not more mailers going out to harass people that are already giving.

I did sent a note to the FOP about it telling them I would stop donating if they did not stop calling me several times a year. And somehow they really did!

This is 100% of the problem with America today, If you had pass a basic current events test or identify your representitives before you voted, this stuff would end. The American Idol crowd is electing our leaders.

We currently belong to AARP, don't know for how much longer though. I did a google search on A. Barry Rand, CEO of AARP and he has been a firm believer of 'social change' his entire business carreer. Also I have been trying to determine what type of insurance I need to supplement Medicare, it probably will not be the AARP sponsored company's now. If I do drop AARP I can still get the same discounts with AAA. :D Looks like I will have to do more research on the subject of AARP, it's CEO and why it has aligned itself with the current health reform options.

This is interesting stuff... and I admit I'm not very well informed on the subject with AARP. I am however an AARP member and have been since 2003, even though I'm currently only 46. Hmmmmmm.

We dropped AARP a few years ago when they sold us down the river on the drug plan. AARP is nothing but a coniving insurance company. They will back anything that puts money in their pockets!!!!

Never belonged. Never will. All these jokers want to do is sell you something, usually some sort of overpriced insurance. They dont give a dam about seniors. All they care about is $$$$$.

Never joined. AARP is in it for themselves. Their insurance is overpriced, their mutual funds underperform, and they support a socialist agenda.

Yeah, I thought I had it right. Just because someone says they're for you doesn't necessarily mean that they're really for you. AARP and their socialists can kiss the mule I rode in here on.

We've been member for 13 years but have some serious concerns as to their loyality of late. Isn't there something in the Healthcare Bill that adversely impacts gun owners?
