question about Lake Mead

We are going to be in Las Vegas for a trade show this week and wanted to rent a boat and explore Lake Mead for a day.Has anyone on this forum boated on Lake Mead ? Any information such as what part of the lake is the best and which marina would be convenient to that part of the lake. I interested in boating on this Lake as The surroundings look so much different than Lake Cumberland.

Lake Mead

Nitro,

Mrs. Capatin and I were out there a couple years ago and we went to Lake Mead Marina, Callville Bay and Echo bay (or was it Pointe?). Any way, we were never able to rent a small boat (20-25ft) to explore the lake. It may be diferent now, however.
We took a cruise on a stern-wheeler that ran out of Lake Mead marina. Compared to Lake Cumberland, it was pretty boring. Water is very clear -and very cold. Don't think we ever saw a tree all day but, if rocks turn you on, you'll be in heaven.

Lake Mead

Thanks Captain for the information. We have been boating on Lake cumberland for 13 years and there is still much of the lake we haven't explored. Just thought we would try somthing different.
