Russell County FFA Dairy Judging Team headed to National Convention
As some of you may remember (those of you I called screaming and crying with joy surely can't forget...LOL) the Russell County Dairy Judging Team won
the State Competition in August and my darling son was the Individual State Winner. Put him on a bus last night headed for competition at the
National FFA Convention in Indianapolis. Keep your fingers crossed for them. The competition is fierce on the national level and they have really
worked hard to prepare.
I'm just hoping and praying they do well.

Don't know how much dairy judging is going on...called him yesterday...no answer...left voice message. Called again, no answer...left message "CALL
YOUR MOTHER!!!". Couple hours later received this text message "At Montgomery Gentry concert. Can't talk. Bye" GAWD I think he belongs to mamakin!

Sounds like he is having a good time, I had a ball at the 1982 FFA convention(Kansas City) when I was on the states welding team. I think we welded, I
don't remember that part.

Kansas City was great for the convention. I really can't believe they moved it. I attended 2 times in the mid nineties and my cousin was a part of the
2nd in the nation Dairy Team they finished behind California. Not sure how that happened but it did. Hope Russell County does well.

Pogo... If you need someone to check up on him just holler. I about beat my head
into the steering wheel this morning with all the traffic in the Downtown area. I tried to go to Noble Roman's for lunch and ended up with popcorn,
cuz there were so many kids cramed in there. (Who would of thunk that teenagers like pizza!)

I pretty much had those same thoughts. I remember conventions when I was in high school.
I wasn't going to go there 'cos I live too close to POGO -
not wanting a knuckle sammich !

Check on him if you want...just look for the good looking kid in the Russell County FFA jacket...
He was probably in the pizza place...craved pizza when I was carrying him and pizza is still one of his favorite foods to this day!!

hey hey hey!! Bobcat and KyAl...don't get Mom all in a panic here!!! He's a good boy so I'm not really all that worried about him. She will have to
be a really special girl for him to bring home to mom...he's tight as bark on a tree and thinks girls just cost too much so she will really have to
steal his heart for him to turn lose of his hard earned money!

Pizza place Thinkin back in my day...I'd have to ponder on that one. Course back in them day, they didn't have cell phones. I was pretty "free" till I got
home!!

Ok, got darling son home and he is exhausted (no comments from the peanut gallery, please...)
Russell County was 24th as a team...looks like my son was about 14th in the individual competition...not bad for a farm boy from Russell County,
Kentucky!! He received a beautiful gold pin to wear on his FFA jacket.
Also, they had a welding competition in one of the vendor booths and he placed third in that and won a really nice pair of welding gloves.
I think he had a good time even though he said they only slept about 3-4 hours a night.
I'm very proud of him and all the guys on the team...they have done really well.
