Deer Hunters Thread
Well, opening day here in Ohio was Saturday. Saw six deer and turned down a shot on a six pointer directly under my stand. Actually a 5 pointer, one
tine was broken off. The reason for passing it up, a group of 12 of us take a week long trip to southern Ohio in November, and I didn't want to go
down without a buck tag. I have a 12 pointer on the wall, so no big deal. Don't think I would have passed up "Hartford" though ! All in all, had a
great first day. Good to be back in the woods. Hope you all share.

NW, My first cousin lives and hunts in Miami Co. OH, Year before last he shot a 6 point that scored 135. So I know what kind of bucks you guys have in
OH. I have been checking my cameras, but haven't been hunting yet. Has been too hot. The bucks down here are starting to move a little more now, so I
believe I will start hunting this week. You need to send us some gametrail pics of those big OH bucks I have some friends that gun hunt in Greene Co. They have brought some nice bucks out of there.

Thanks for sharing Bobcat. It has been too warm here these past few days. (for deer hunting) Foilage is still on also. Can't wait for the "rut".
It was sure nice to get back in the woods though. I'll see what I can do with some pics. Guess I need to learn how to post them on here. Oh....and
good luck to ya !!

So how many folks have been listening to the Jim Strader show on WHAS on Sunday evenings? The past 2 wks on our way home from the lake we have been
listening to the show and talk about "blue tongue" disease that is killing massive amounts of deer. According to the show its much worse than any
previous epidemic of this disease, and kills deer within 48 hrs. of contracting the disease. It is evidently a state wide epidemic which involves
primarily every county in Ky. I bring this up b/c of our experience participating in the Lake Cumberland clean-up. We saw several dead deer close to
the water and in areas where we may not have seen them we could "smell" them. There were several callers who had inspected their land, one
finding about 12 dead deer on 40 acres, and another caller finding around 100 dead deer on his property (didn't catch how many acres he had
searched). Just seems scarry to me, stange it effects deer but not livestock.
When deeds speak, words are nothing.

LC addict,
Thanks for your research and the information. Really do appreciate it. I just started hunting. The six deer that I seen looked very healthy. The one
buck was right under my stand. Thanks again

I hunt 200 acres in Anderson Co. and 300 acres in Greenup Co. So far no sign of the disease on these properties. Lets hope it stays that way. I will
be in the stand Wed. morning

I downloaded the pics. from my gametrail camera, it was out 5 days, close to a feeder 122 pics mostly does and fawns, a big ole coon, four
turkeys(hens) four bucks, one basket six, a nice yearling four point, and two spikes. The big boys are there just haven't got pics. yet. I have been
chasing one for the last two years. We scored his sheds from last year, about 155. I seen him twice last year at about 200 yrds with a bow. He is a
(last year) very tall very wide typical 8.
Good luck to you also NW
Lakejunkie, you can't learn everything in the college classroom A
morning in a tree stand, is a great learning opportunity
