Dear Members
I am posting this for Burnside Marina & Marinas International.
Thanks,
mstafford
Dear Members,
As you are aware via media news releases the Army Corp of Engineers has announced our lake level will be taken to 680 for the season. This level is
required to relieve the water pressure while repairs are being made on Wolf Creek Dam. We should see our new seasonal level around February 12, 2007.
We are already making plans to share pictures on our web site http://www.burnsidemarina.com. We look forward to exploring new shore line, no drift, great fishing, camping and boating on our
water playground that remains one of the largest in the Mid-Central United States. We will still enjoy 35 to 40 thousand surface acres of clean water
expanding approximately 100 miles in length.
Changes we are making to the dock: The ship store will be moved 200 ft. straight forward, Pier 6 will be placed at the end of Pier 5; Pier 8 will be
placed where Pier 6 previously was, and Pier1, 2,3,4,5 will be moved forward approximately 40 ft. Pier 9 will no longer be available but we will try
to make every effort to accommodate previous members with available slips.
With our priorities being to minimize any inconvenience to our members we will be unable to utilize our loading ramp. At this time Burnside Island
loading ramp will be available for usage.
With the lower water levels we will also be able to add more than 40 additional parking spaces on the lower level, which will be available to our
annual slip customers.
Thank you,
Layne Wilson

Hey thanks for the update. I'll be down to check out the lake when they get it to 680. But it's great that someone from the dock would be
pro-active to address the dock's status, I'm currently floating on dock 5. I remember low lake condictions in the late 60's early 70's. At that
time I was somewhat of a puppy taking fishing trips with my Dad. We were west enders at that time coming out of Beaver and the lake's shoreline
features were great.
There was a local gent that Dad used as a guide, Ernie Taylor. In my opion Ernie may have been as good as Billy West Moreland(sp?) when it came to
fishing for Smallmouth Bass. We still fish those areas he showed us today with much success. Since I rarely check this section of the forum I'll
share Otter Creek and a section Ernie called the "oil slick". So called because the amount of bait fish creates the film on the surface. The
entrance of Otter after the confluence of Beaver and Otter. Not a big deal today since you see Striper guides working those areas now. But bass
fishing at that area can be very good.
No more secrets, but once again thanks for the updates and as stated I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of the lake levels on
Burnside Marina's web site.
